Summary
Azure Synapse is an analytics platform that brings together data integration, enterprise data warehousing and big data analytics. In short, it integrates various Azure solutions into one platform (e.g. Microsoft SQL, Azure data lake, Data factory, ...).
dScribe focuses on the documentation of data assets. In context of Azure Synapse, that means the connector is a combination of a Microsoft SQL connector and an Azure data lake connector.
Data assets stored in SQL Server
Microsoft SQL can be both dedicated or serverless, both are supported. dScribe catalogs the tables, views, columns. Intra-lineage between tables and/or views is supported. More information on which steps to take to set up this connector can be found here.
Data assets stored in Azure Data Lake
Azure data lake is built on top of azure storage, which has the capabilities to store a large volume of file-based data. dScribe can catalog all metadata related to assets registered in the Azure Delta Lake.
