Updated over 6 months ago

Why use the Agent?

The dScribe Agent can be used to integrate dScribe with sources running on private networks. The Agent acts as a secure tunnel between both.

How to install the Agent

First, you will have to create an agent in the dScribe portal

  1. Navigate to the settings page > Agent on your dScribe tenant

  2. Add a new agent

You'll need the agent key in the installation process, which can be copied via the clipboard icon.

    Requirements for the machine

    1. Windows VM 64-bit

    2. 2 core 4 gb ram

    3. Allow outgoing requests to our gateway (see below)

    4. Access to the source you want to scan

  3. Download the attached zip (bottom of the page), which contains the necessary files to install the agent on your machine.ย

Unpack the zip on your machine.

All steps to be followed will require administrator rights on the machine you are installing the agent.

  1. Right click on the install_agent.bat script and select "Run as administrator", this will open a terminal

  2. First option you can press Enter

  3. Secondly, you will need to add the Agent key, we can retrieve from the clipboard icon

  4. Lastly, add the correct gateway url (which will have to allow an outgoing connection).

Copy

gateway.dscribedata.com

On the windows machine you could check the following applications

  1. Services -> to check if the dScribe agent is running

  2. Event Viewer -> to check the logs concerning the dScribe agent

The agent should be running, if you are facing issues contact [email protected]
