How to install the dScribe Guide extension

Instructions on how to install the dScribe extension in Chrome or Edge

To capture and view guides across your browser-based applications, users need to have the dScribe Guide browser extension installed. The extension is available both for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

There are 2 deployment options:

  1. Group install (best for enterprises)

  2. Individual install via the web stores (best for initial onboarding or smaller rollouts)

1. Group install of the browser extension

You can activate browser extensions centrally for users in your organization. Learn more about this for Chrome browser and Edge browser.

Before you group-install the extension for multiple users, we recommend you set up SSO.

2. Individual install of the browser extension

Unless this has been blocked by your organization's IT settings, individual users can directly install the browser extension from the Google Chrome Web Store or the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.

When you invite users to dScribe, they will get a pop-up after logging in if they haven't installed the extension yet.

Installing the extension on Google Chrome

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store

    • Navigate to the Chrome Web Store.

    • You can search for “dScribe Guide” in the store’s search bar.
      ​

  2. Select the dScribe Guide Extension

    • Locate the official dScribe Guide listing from the search results.
      ​

  3. Add to Chrome

    • Click the Add to Chrome button on the extension page.

    • When prompted, click Add extension to confirm.
      ​

  4. Confirmation

    • A new dScribe Guides icon will appear in your browser’s toolbar once installation is complete.

Installing the extension on Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store
    Navigate to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store.
    ​

  2. Search for "dScribe Guide"
    Use the store’s search bar to find the dScribe Guide extension.
    ​

  3. Select the dScribe Guide Extension
    Locate the official dScribe Guide listing from the search results.
    ​

  4. Add to Edge
    Click the Get button on the extension page.
    ​

  5. Confirm Installation
    When prompted, click Add extension to confirm.
    ​

  6. Confirmation
    Once installed, the dScribe Guides icon will appear in your browser’s toolbar.

Pro tip: Pin the Extension

For quick and easy access, pin the dScribe plugin to your toolbar.

  1. Click the puzzle piece icon in the top-right corner of your browser.

  2. Find the dScribe Guide icon in the Extensions list.

  3. Click the pin icon next to it.

The dScribe icon should now be visible on your toolbar. Click it on any tab to start capturing a guide.
